FORMATION OF FOOD SECURITY IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE ECONOMY OF UKRAINE
Abstract
In the context of contemporary challenges, food security is a key aspect of socio-economic development and stability in Ukraine. It encompasses the provision of high-quality and safe food products produced domestically, enhancing the country's independence from other states. Amidst market transformations and increasing global issues such as climate change and population growth, food security is becoming increasingly relevant. This article examines strategies to ensure food security that must be effective and adhere to market economy principles to adapt to both internal and external challenges. Particular attention is given to addressing issues related to food production and availability, which include not only optimizing production capacities but also managing the agro-industrial complex, scientific research, and investment policies. The article highlights an analysis of the current state of food security in Ukraine, identifying key factors affecting its level, and determining strategic directions for its enhancement. Existing scientific studies and publications are summarized to identify current trends and shortcomings in approaches to ensuring food security. Several recommendations are proposed to strengthen food security, including the development of effective mechanisms for regulating the agricultural market, increasing investments in agricultural research, and expanding infrastructure for storage and processing of agro-products. The importance of improving the legislative framework regulating the production, circulation, and safety of food products is emphasized. Ensuring transparency and control in the agricultural sector is also crucial as it will help reduce corruption risks and enhance resource management efficiency. The development of local initiatives aimed at supporting small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises is recommended, including through the provision of credit guarantees and tax incentives.
